The Beatitudes Part 10

Matthew 5:12 (NKJV)

"Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

I left this for last; the Beatitudes are not a message for non-believers. His message was for followers of Christ. This message is an outline of Godly living. A message of hope in times of trouble. If you look back at each of these you will notice that each verse starts with a problem, so to speak, followed by an encouragement. Many times we read through this and look at it as 'nice words' or maybe 'a cool thought'. Really this is a detail of a believer's hope in Christ during times of trouble.

To wrap up our study of the Beatitudes lets look at the last verse. It might be difficult to rejoice and be glad during some of the issues we face. It doesn't mean that we go around happy because of our troubles but yet we can rejoice in the promises that the Kingdom of Heaven awaits. These verses do not mean you get stuff for doing a check list. They tell us that we can completely rely and put our trust in Christ.

If you have ever competed at something, you understand trials. You practice hard, face hard times and difficulties; maybe times where you question why you're doing it. You push forward for the goal of what can be. For me, it's pushing to the World Series of Team Roping Finals. It takes a lot of practice and work, but I push for the prize at the end of it.

Unlike going for finals, we know that those who are in Christ Jesus will be saved. We can rest assured in Christs' work.
