The Beatitudes Part 7

Matthew 5:9 (NKJV)

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."

When we run across this verse, one of the first things that come to mind is our law enforcement. Especially in today's world where they are being attacked from all sides. Please pray for all our law enforcement as they are in need of our support.

As for all of us, this verse is not just for those whose job is to keep peace. God's word is pretty clear on those who stir up trouble.

Proverbs 17:14 says The beginning of strife is like releasing water; therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts." There are many many other verses that speak about those who cause trouble. Matthew's writing tells us that God blesses those who stop strife and quarrels.

It's like this - I brought a new mare home a while back to work with and see if she would make it in the roping world. When she was put in with the other horses she was the low man on the pole. I have another mare that had worked her way up the ladder so to speak and wanted to make sure the new horse knew her place.

This mare liked stirring up strife with the new mare. Now for those that have had horses like this you know it can become a problem. The older mare was running the new mare around; running her into panels and creating problems where one may get injured. I then brought the aged gelding in. He was the Alpha of the heard.

Immediately he got into the middle of the two mares and brought the quarrel to an end. He settled their argument. He was the peacemaker of the group.

Just as we don't want these horses quarreling with each other and have them desire to keep the peace with our herds God wants the same with His children. That's where we can all come in and be peacemakers whether it's just a listening ear guidance a kind word or most powerful of all prayer.

We are to do what we can to help bring peace especially among the fellowship of believers.
